Cold Wine in the Summertime

Cold Wine in SnowHopefully you have armed yourself with plenty of white wine, rosés and sparklers to last you through the summertime.  Getting the stuff cold in a hurry (under 10 minutes) can be a challenge, so we wanted to share with you a few ways to speed up the process.  And you may be surprised by what works the best…

If you think that throwing a bottle into the freezer is the fastest way to drop the temperature, think again.  Too much space and air; your wine needs direct contact with something good and cold.

Next on the list is to shove the wine into a bucket or cooler filled with ice, right?  You’re getting warmer (or cooler) but you still haven’t hit on the ultimate solution.

The envelope, please.  The fastest way to cool down wine is to half-fill a bucket or cooler with ice and then add cold water.  Tossing in a pinch of salt will serve to drop the temperature even further, and this is the bath you want to submerge your wine in.

If you are the type who likes to experiment, put one bottle in the freezer and another in anFrosty glass ice & water bath.  Don’t be surprised if you’re on your second glass of perfectly chilled wine before the bottle in the freezer is ready to go.

Enjoy!
