Career Opportunities in Growing Wine Services Company
Southern California Wine Storage LLC (SCWS) is a high-end service company offering controlled environment storage in secure, licensed facilities, along with ancillary specialty services, for our many customers who love wine, and collectible beers. We have grown to two locations currently and plan on other sites in the coming years.
SCWS has multiple openings for two positions: Site Manager and Cellar Associate
This position is accountable for all operations of a SCWS location, including customer service, facility operations, shipping and receiving cases, administration of the inventory system, certain payments to vendors, accounts receivable management, moving cases in and out of stacked lockers (range of weight of 45-60 pounds per case, use of a ladder often required), retrieving and placing bottles in lockers, maintaining business information using Word and Excel, creating required reports, responding to customer inquiries (current and potential), supervising Cellar Associates, collaborating with senior management and participating in business planning efforts.
The successful candidate will be able to perform all duties, but as importantly should be someone who loves the craft, the experience and the community of wine. Knowledge of the cultivation, varieties and creation of fine wine is a definite plus. You don’t have to be a sommelier, but you should have a passion for the art of wine. This position requires some car travel between our two locations, for meetings, vendor visits, etc. The role requires a person who likes to work independently, be measured on results and bring their own ideas towards improving the business. As our company grows, we will prefer to promote from within.
This position is accountable for all support activities required by the Site Manager, and similarly must be able to routinely move cases of wine weighing 45-60 pounds on average, using a ladder as required. Duties will include customer service, gathering data for reporting, conducting inventory audits, fulfilling shipment and receiving tasks, light facility maintenance, entering data on Excel spreadsheets and other administrative tasks. The position requires some car travel between our two locations for site coverage.
The successful candidate will be able to perform all duties, and also have a strong attraction to the world of wine. This position has variable hours required, can be full or part-time, and will require Saturday work. We believe this is a good position for a working student studying viticulture, a semi-retired wine enthusiast, or anyone who wants to start a career involving the wine industry.
